Economy is falling like a ton of bricks

Is the stimulus money really helping the economy? Probably not.

However both times the government gave out this money it did help me a lot.

The first time they gave out the money I was in the process of moving. Had it not been for the economic stimulus money I wouldn't of been able to afford the cost of storage and security deposit. So for that I say thanks to the govenment.

I also got $250 this round of economic stimulus money. I again used it for something practicle.

Although I live in a midsize city no vision center closer than 25 miles takes Medicaid. The one place that does is a small village 25 miles away. To make matters even worse if one is capable of taking a bus one must take the bus there.

The reason this is bad is it takes only ten minutes to go into the vision center and drop off the perscription and arrange to get a new pair of glasses. In this time you miss the bus to take you back to the city, where you live. The next bus isn't for another one hour and 45 minutes.

Furthermore there is literally nothing else around. The vision center is in the same building as a dry cleaners. There is only a bank and a closed piza shop in the whole two block area near the bus stop.

Add to this problem that you have never been to this village before in your life and have no clue where anything is. So here you are in the middle of a very small village, lost and stranded to some definition for an hour and 45 mintes.

It was because of this ordeal I decided to buy an extra pair of glasses with my economic stimulus money. I didn't ever want to go through all that again just to be able to see!

I decided to get my glasses at JC Penny's Optical center, because a person had recommended them. I would  of never be able to afford a pair of glasses without it! The frames alone are $99.

So again to the government, tax payers and so forth. I say thank you very much in helping me have a home and some glasses to see with.

Consider it a loan (from your own tax money), you will pay for it one way or another, even if you effectively pay zero federal tax.

I guess, but since my only income comes from Social Security. Which is from the government, that just means the goverment is taxing itself. If I wasn't disabled and could work. I would.

Sure, but you still purchace things right? That's were most of the tax is hidden. The more the cost of living goes up, the larger the SS check (which let's face it, never is really enough). So while you may feel like it just hurts taxpayers, it's still hurts you as well too. Also don't forget inheritance taxes and lastly when we all pass away (hopefully a long time from now) the gov gives a $250 nowhere close to what a decent funneral costs (and is taxed). They will get you even in the end.
